In this workshop we'll learn to make several veganized versions of some breakfast favourites, including how to make porridge properly! Forget about eggs and breakfast meats....tofu is the way to go for high-protein, cholesterol-free dishes that are delicious and filling.
Dates: the 3rd Thursday of each month, from 6 - 8:30pm. Fee: $65 per person
Porridge: nutrition info and kinds of porridge; proper cooking technique (no gloopy mush!) Participants will enjoy a warm bowl of nourishing porridge while we move on to the next recipe.
Scrambled tofu with peppers & onions: types of tofu & their uses; cooking without oil, working with and storing tofu properly; knife skills - slicing onions & peppers
Smokey tofu strips: making marinade, soy sauce vs tamari, pan frying & deglazing techniques, other types of vegan “bacon”; knife skills - slicing tofu really thin
Collard Greens Wraps with tomato, onion & thyme; prepping greens, nutritional information, storing fresh greens, how to roll a burrito/wrap.
